Merdeka Millennium Endurance 12 Hour
August 29th 30th Sepang F1 Circuit Malaysia.

This time I drove for Team Thunder Asia with Melvin Choo and Tunku Hammam in a Porsche GT3 Cup S. We qualified 5th overall and all the cars in front of us were more powerful Porsche RSR and BMW works cars. I did a 2:10:8.

I started the race and by turn 2 I was 4th and was getting close to 3rd and by the end of my stint I was almost to pass 3rd . 1st ,2nd and 3rd were all Porsche RSR which were all about 100BHP more than our car. The works BMW 2 cars which were driven by Japanese GT works drivers couldn’t get close to me and I pulled away. By the 3rd hour we were leading the race and when Melvin was driving one of the drive shaft broke and he had to come to the pits and we were almost in the pits for 45 minutes but after 1 hour we had the same problem and then we changed the drive shaft which took another 50 minutes. BY this time we were 56th out of 77 cars.

I went out when it was fixed and pushed really hard we over took all the cars in the field but being in the pits for almost 100 minutes was too much but we finished overall 20th and our times were faster than all other cars by the end of the race the clutch was stuck and had only 2 gears but finished the race. As we were not running with a cool suit it was really difficult but we all wanted to finish the race. Melvin and Hammam drove very well and with our slow car we did so well. The Cup S is a really good car for endurance and I think if we didn’t have the problem we would have given a good run for the faster cars.
