Dubai 24 Hour race 11th 12th January 2008

I drove for Porsche Club Singapore team with Weng, Ringo, Melvin and Hammam.
We were the only Asian Team with all Asian drivers and Mechanics except for the Chief engineer Andria.

I had driven here last year but for all the other drivers it was the first time and specially for Melvin and Hammam it was the first time they drove the car and they didn’t get much time to learn the car but during the race both of them did a great job.

I qualified 10th among so many world famous works teams and top drivers. I was able to pass few in the start and was running 7th and by the first pit stop we were 3rd and I did the 4th fastest time. By evening is started raining very heavily until morning so it was very difficult to drive as the vision was so bad.

But all the drivers did a great job and all the mechanics too. After the rain I was able to clock the fastest lap which was really good.

We ended up 8th overall and 6th in class. I think it was a great result for an Asian team. The credit should go to all drivers and mechanics we didn’t have any technical problems except for the radio. Just before the start the radio stopped working so we had a hard time to communicate with the pits while driving and we ended up without any scratch on the car.

It is always good to be with Ringo, Melvin, Hammam and Weng they are a great bunch of people and Arj the sporting director. I really enjoyed and I am sure if others had more time in the car we would have finished within the top 5.
