  Porsche Carrera Cup Asia Round 3 & 4 Shanghai F1 Circuit 19th & 20th April.

We were unable to test on Friday and all of us had 2 test on Saturday and qualifying. In testing I was doing very good and just before qualifying it started raining. As soon as I went out it was very heavy and the drivers who went out got good lap time. I came in to the pits to see my position and I was 13th and 7 seconds behind the fastest. I went out again but the rain was very bad and I came in to see and I was still 12th. I looked at the times and we had only 3 minutes to go. So I knew I could do only 1 flying lap I went out and I thought I must do this what ever happens. Due to aqua plan the car was sliding but I kept my speed and when I crossed the finish line I saw my time and I had gone 5 seconds faster and from 12th position I came to 6th ahead of Christian Jones. It was really scaring but was fun.

Round 3.
I had a good start but I couldn’t push much and I knew it was the tire pressures we were running too low pressure so Christian got in front of me and then Alain and Ringo but I was able to overtake them and finish 7th. When I got back to the pits we checked the tire pressure and it was too low. It was frustrating when I could go faster but couldn’t do it but any way it was ok we finished with points.

Round 4
I got a good start and I was just behind Mathew and I braked too late on turn 10 and spun and as this was the first lap every one over took me and I started again when every one was gone. I knew I was in trouble but I had to do the best I started over taking 2 or 3 then I saw the Safety car on the track. Any way after the safety car went to the pits we had only 5 laps I was able to over take all the B class drivers and Ringo, Danny and Weng in A class and finished just 0.5 seconds behind Alain I was really satisfied to finish 8th. But I really enjoyed over taking so many in 5 laps it was very difficult as all the B class drivers are also very fast I think one of the best races I did in PCCA. With all these happenings I will be in good shape for the next PCCA round.

Asian GT round 3 & 4
Shanghai F1 circuit 19th & 20th April

We got an invitation to race in the Asian GT and this was a good chance to test our Aston Martin cars before the first race which will be on the 25th of May at the same circuit. It was a tight schedule as we had the PCCA round 3 & 4 at the same time so it was tiring getting down from one car and to another as we had back to back races. The testing was Ok I was trying to get used to shift paddle but it took some time I had a problems with the brakes and after 6 laps the brakes faded but all the other cars were ok. Ringo was fastest and he was almost 3 seconds faster than me, Melvin and Hammam. During qualifying it started raining and I was in Slick tires had a big spin and was stuck in the sand trap. So I had to start from the back.

Round 3.
I started from the back of the grid and was able to finish 2nd Ringo was first and Melvin 3rd. The biggest problem I had was the brakes so after 6 laps I had no brakes so I had to stop with engine brakes. But I was only 1 second slower than Ringo.

Round 4.
I had a good start and again I finished 2nd Ringo 1st and Hammam 3rd. This time I did the fastest lap very slightly faster than Ringo so now I have got used to the car but I had to slow down after the 6th lap due to brakes failure. Any way it was a good and busy week end and for the next Aston Martin race the car will be ok and hoping to win. Another good thing was there were lot of Sri Lankans cheering me they have come to China for a visit and heard that I was racing and they all came to cheer me it was great to see so many Sri Lankans cheering me in China.

Malaysia Super car Series Round 2
Sepang F1 Circuit 10th & 11th May

This race was real tuff as every one is getting faster cars. I couldn’t test as the car stopped just on the out lap due to a electric failure. But Vince fixed it before the qualifying.
I qualified 3rd. Hammam 1st and Weng 2nd and Wira was 4th. Hammam's new Cup S was very fast no way to keep up and he drove very well.

Race 1.
I had a good start and by the 1st corner I was leading and I was able to keep Hammam behind me but in the 2nd lap he over took me before turn 4 and then he got away Wira over took me in the 8th I had no option as the 2 cars were too fast any way I finished ahead of Weng.

Race 2.
Hammam couldn’t come to the grid as he had a problem with his car and he started from the pits. I overtook Wira and I was leading the race for 12 laps when Wira over took me. I knew he will be doing it so I was trying to get away but ones I started lapping the back makers I got blocked and as Wira has a better acceleration it was easier for him to lap the back makers.
Any way I finished 2nd and there was nothing I could do I drove 100%. I finished 2nd overall Wira 1st and Weng 3rd. Hammam couldn’t finish due to a mechanical problem.
Now I am 2nd in the championship 24 points behind Wira and if I need to win the championship for the 3rd year then I will have to win the rest of the races so I have decided to upgrade the engine before the next race to go faster.
