Aston Martin Asia Cup Round 1 & 2
Shanghai F1 Support race
17th- 19th April 2009 Shanghai.

I competed in the round 1 and 2 of Aston Martin Asia Cup at Shanghai as the support race for F1. I was 3rd fastest in Testing Mark Williamson was fastest and Ringo Chong was 2nd fastest. In qualifying I was 2nd fastest and Ringo took Pole position.

Race 1.
By the end of the 1st lap I was able to get in front of Ringo and I was able to maintain the lead. During the race Mark was challenging in the first few laps but I was able to maintain the 1st position. I won the race and Mark was 2nd and Ringo was 3rd. I was waiting for this day because when you win at a F1 event the winners Country Flag and the National Anthem will be played. When I was on the podium and when I saw the Sri Lankan flag flying high I was so happy and when our National Anthem started playing I started crying for the joy. I have been waiting for years for this moment and I am so proud I could do this for my mother land Sri Lanka. Also I must thank every one who has helped me in every way for me to achieve this.

Race 2.
I started from pole but I couldn't keep up with Mark and Ringo because I ran on used tires and both of them had new tires. So on the first few laps they pulled away but later I did the same times as them but finished 3rd. Mark won and Ringo finished 2nd.
