Aston Martin Asia Cup Round 5 & 6
at Sepang F1 Circuit Malaysia June 20th & 21st.

I competed in the round 5 & 6 of Aston Martin Asia Cup at Sepang. We had 2 tests and in the 1st test I was 2nd fastest and Mark Williamson was fastest but in the 2nd test I was able to be the fastest.
In qualifying I did only 3 laps with the new tires as I wanted to save them for the race and I was 2nd fastest just 0.1 second behind Mark Williamson.

Round 5.
I got a good start and had the chance to overtake Mark but I didn't want to take a risk and had a little bit of patience and by turn 4 I got in front of him and pulled away and won the race with a good margin.
Mark finished 2nd and Simon Waters finished 3rd.

Round 6.
I was on pole but just before the start of the race it started raining and we had to change the tires to wets.
I knew it is bit tough in the wet as you cannot make any mistake but got a very good start and from lap 1 I pulled away and got a good lead.
Half way of the race the circuit was in dry condition and I was worried to push as we were in wet tires thinking the tires might burst so I slowed the pace a bit because I knew Mark will be facing the same problem and also I had a good gap.
I won the race and once again Mark was 2nd and Hammam finished 3rd.

Now I have a good margin over Mark in the championship points and out of the 6 races I have won 5 and finished 3rd in the other one.
Once again my engineer Steve did a magic set up and our car was in perfect condition with a great set up.
It is good to win races and bring more glory for our country and I should thank every one who is helping me and specially the media for giving all the publicity.

  Asian GT3 Round 7 & 8 Sepang F1 Circuit
June 20th & 21st Malaysia.

I competed in the Asian GT3 in GT4 class.
As GT3 and GT4 runs concurrently I competed in GT4 as my car is a normal cup car with 400hp.
The GT3 cars are almost 500hp and has better suspension better brakes and wider wheels.
AS my engine broke in the last Malaysian Super series Tunku Hammam was very kind enough to lend me his Porsche Cup Car which is same as mine.

I couldn't do any testing as we couldn't get the car ready in time and went straight into qualifying and could do only 3 laps.
I also had to drive without the power steering and it was so difficult to drive. Any way I was able to qualify overall 12th and top in GT4.

Round 7.
I got a good start and by turn 7 in the 1st lap I was able to get in to 6th but in turn 14 I had to avoid hitting the car in front and had a spin and had a hit with another car and as it was a very hard hit there was a lot of damage to the car and fractured a bone in my right hand.
I had won the Aston Martin race a hour ago. I couldn't move my right hand for few minutes and had to retire in the 1st lap.

Round 8.
The mechanics worked till morning and fixed the car and was able to fix the power steering also as my hand was hurting I couldn't have driven without the power steering.
I really wanted to win the race because every one worked so hard to fix the car by morning.
I won the Aston Martin again in the morning and my hand was hurting more.
I started from the back of the grid 22nd so I had to overtake so many cars and it was not easy as all of them had more power than my car.
I knew I had to take lot of risk while overtaking but knew how to do it.
I got a good start and within 3 laps I was 10th and by 5th lap I was 7th and in the last lap I over took David Lai and finished overall 6th and 1st in my class.
I was very happy to win the race with all the dramas during the week and to make all the mechanics proud.
I had one of the best races as I over took almost 16 cars and the feeling was fantastic specially when overtaking the faster GT3 cars.
I had a 30 second lead over Christian Chia who finished 2nd in GT4 and almost 40 seconds over Paul Tresidder who finished 3rd.
As I always do never give up and fantastic week end once again a record winning 3 International races in a week end and I am so happy and proud to do this for our country and thank you to every one of you who supported me.
