Asian GT4 Round 1
Sepang F1 Circuit Malaysia May 15th and 16th.

I won the first ever race of the GT4 to be held in Asia. I was to compete in a Nissan 350Z prepared by Nissan Works team Nismo but as I couldn't find sponsors in time Mr. Adrian De Silva a Malaysian racing in the same series invited me to drive his car with him. This is the first time GT4 is held in Asia with drivers from all around the world and will be of 6 rounds with 2 races totally 12 races in the championship. The races will be held in Malaysia, Korea, Japan, Indonesia and Macau.

We had 2 races one on the 15th and one on the 16th. I did the fastest lap for qualifying and took pole and Adrian was 5th fastest for the 2nd race. I started the first race and by lap 8 I had a lead of 20 seconds to the 2nd runner and did the driver change in lap 9. As these races are 15 laps and a pit stop is compulsory. Adrian drove the rest of the race and we won. It was great to win the first ever race and bring pride to my country again. I was fastest and was 2 seconds fast every lap than any other driver.

In race 2 Adrian started 5th and in the 2nd corner he had a spin and fell to last. When I took over on the 7th lap we were 5th again. By lap 9 I was 3rd and was trying to overtake Frank who was running 2nd while I was overtaking him he banged on me and my left front tire blew. Any way I was able to drive to the pits change the tire and finished 6th.

Now I am 3rd in the championship with a difference of only 2 points. Next round will be in June in Malaysia once again and hopefully will be able to get the Nissan in time. I hope to win the championship this year for Sri Lanka.
