GT Asia Round 1 Sepang F1 Circuit Malaysia May 28th and 29th.

The GT Asia started off with many new faster cars. Weng got his new Ferrari 458 GT3, Frank and Samson with their new Ford GT40 and Hammam, David and Alan with their upgraded Lamborghini and Eddie with the new Porsche GT3R.

I didn't do any upgrades with my Lamborghini as I am still trying to find more sponsors. In testing my car was slow on the straights comparing to the new cars.

Race-1.

Hammam got away in the start but I was side ways with him in every corner for 5 laps but in the straights he pulled away. As the new regulation for GT3 a pit stop was compulsory for every car. So I did my pit stop earlier and I was quick coming out 1st and all the way lead the race to win the round 1 of GT Asia. Hammam was 2nd and Eddie was 3rd. It was great feeling to win the round 1 of the season.

Race-2.

I was hit from behind on lap 1 in turn 2 . I spun and the car stopped and it took about 18 seconds for me to get back to track. By that time every one was gone I thought for a while I wouldn't be able to make it but fought all the way to pass most to get to 5th position. Then there was an accident and the safety car was called. But when the safety car got back to pits and started the race I immediately did the pit stop and cam out 3rd and there was only 2 laps remaining and I was able to pass Eddie and finished 2nd. Frank won the race I was 2nd and Hammam was 3rd. It was a real hard race as I had to pass so many cars and after winning the round 1 I had to carry extra 70 kg and the car was slower on the straight. But my engineer Christi and the boys Selva, Prakash, Noel and Taka did so good by setting up the car and if not for them I wouldnt have done so well. Gerry (Owner of Buffori) being one of my sponsors gives us lot of technical support which really helps our team. Now I am leading the GT Asia Championship.

I must thank all my sponsors Ray Ax, Sata, Chronoforce, Bufori and the only Sri Lankan Sponsor Browns Group for the great support. It was a very good race week and hoping to win more races.
