Malaysia Super Car Series Race 9th & 10 th Sepang Circuit 25th and 26th November 2006

After the bad luck at Macau I was really wanting to win the last 2 races plus the championship. I knew it was difficult because Chong was 12 points ahead me and even I won the last 2 races and if he finished 2nd in both races still he would have won the championship. The engine had problems after the Merdeka 12 Hour race and we sent the engine to Australia to be rebuilt. My friend Benny from Australia did the best for us and we received the engine on the 23rd. Vince did a great job by fixing the engine in time for testing and qualifying.

We had to start slow and do the running in during the 20 minutes Testing and I was able to qualify Pole in Qualifying. Peter Hills also had his new engine but had a problem during the Qualifying but the car was ready for the race.

I was pole and Peter was second and Chong 3rd.

On the start of the first race Chong got in front of me with his 4WD but I passed him in the 4th corner and got away from every one. I had a very good lead so I thought to slow down a little bit. Then I saw Peter stopped and after another lap I saw Chong also had stopped. So I won the first race and Peter and Chong both couldn’t finish. Weng finished 2nd and Ron 3rd.

The second race was less pressure but I knew I had to win and no mistakes. Chong’s car was ready for the second race but unfortunately Peter had to retire. I got a good start and had a very good lead and won the race. Weng was second and Chong third. It was a great win after I crossed the finish line from the bottom of my heart I thanked every one who has helped me in every little way to win this championship and also who helped in my career. I was feeling great to win the championship this was specially for Sri Lanka. I became the first foreigner to win this championship. When the week end started I knew it was a very hard thing to do but I am very good at handling things with pressure. This is my first International Championship. Again a dream come true. I will do my best to win more championships in the near future. I must thank Vince and his crew from VRD Motor sports for doing a great job and specially to Ian Geekie and Su for supporting me through out the season. Mr.Hayashi for sponsoring me and the great publicity given by All the Media representatives from Sri Lanka my family, friends and fans. I also should thank the Sepang F1 Circuit officials and all the employees they gave me great support. All the other drivers in the Championship was very friendly and they all supported me. I must also thank Mr. Yoshihito Sasaki who does my web site with his own expenses and I must say I am so lucky to have such a good bunch of good people around me. I had another great racing season and in the last moment winning the championship. Now we are getting ready for the Dubai 24 hour race which will be held on the 11th 12th and 13th of January. Thank you for all of you for supporting me.
