Although it was a tough weekend for the Sri Lankan Racing veteran, it was indeed a pleasure seeing the Sri Lankan flag racing around the historical Silverstone F1 Track in England this weekend. Landing in the country for the race just 4 hours before the qualifiers due to a Visa processing delay back in Sri Lanka, Dilantha Malkagamuwa missed his plenary practice session and went directly into the qualifiers. Missing the practice session did affect the race harshly since the Sri Lankan car had to start the race just one before the last. Dilantha fought back in Race one starting the grid on the 31st position and ended with the 6th place in Class on the day 1 race.
Day two had better improvement on the weather and we were able to clinched 6th place again in class starting off from the 29th position on the grid. Both races aside however, Dilantha’s vision for 2018 at Silverstone is, to “get the flag to the podium”, he mentioned.
